MAX AGUNG, O.CARM.
Ordained a Carmelite priest in 1996, he has dedicated his life to pastoral ministry, education, and formation within the Carmelite Order. In 2000, he earned a Master of Arts in Theology from the Melbourne College of Divinity, an experience that deepened his theological foundations and prepared him for service in both academic and pastoral spheres.
From 2001 to 2018, he was actively engaged in various pastoral works in Indonesia. His ministry included teaching theology, serving as the head of a Carmelite high school, and training seminarians, guiding young people on their vocational paths. He was also involved with the Indonesian Carmelite Institute, where he contributed to research, teaching, and the promotion of Carmelite spirituality within the local context.
In 2018, his ministry took on an international dimension when he was assigned to the United States, where he served as assistant parish priest at St. Cecilia's parish in Englewood until 2023. His work there combined pastoral care, liturgical guidance, and intercultural ministry, enriching his perspective on the universal Church.
Since 2023, he has been assistant parish priest of the parish of José Gálvez in Lima, Peru. His pastoral commitment in Peru continues to prioritise spiritual accompaniment, preaching and the promotion of community life, while maintaining his academic interest in theology and the Carmelite tradition.
